Santiago zeigt die ganze Bandbreite der Kapverdischen Inseln… kaum verlässt man
die grosse Stadt Praia - wo alles möglich ist, wie in allen Grossagglomerationen
– ist das Land dünn besiedelt und die Natur ist die Herrscherin! : ) Und die
Südspitze bietet eine hübsche Palette davon:
The island of Santiago shows the whole range of the Cape Verde Islands... as soon as you leave the big city of Praia - where everything is possible, as in all large agglomerations - the country is scarcely populated and nature is the ruler! : ) And the southern tip offers a pretty palette of it:

Am Montag
machten wir uns auf die Suche nach einem neuen iPhone… Die Suche brach ich schon
bald ab, da ich bemerkte, dass das neuste iPhone hier auf den Kapverden ein 8
ist – wenn sie überhaupt eines haben! Aber da war noch vieles mehr zu bestaunen
in Praia! : )
On Monday we walked through town looking for a new iPhone… I soon gave up the search as I noticed that the latest iPhone here in Cape Verde is an 8 – if they have one! But there was much more to admire in Praia! : )

Am Dienstag
Morgen mieteten wir ein Auto bei Simplycar (https://simplycarpraia.com), und zwar
mit Abgabe am Flughafen Mittwoch auf Donnerstag Mitternacht. Beflügelt durch 4
Räder unter unseren Pödis fuhren nach Cidade Velha, die erste Siedlung der
Europäer in den Tropen und somit auf den Kapverden (1426). Cidade Velha war
konsequenterweise auch die ehemalige Hauptstadt der 10 Inseln.
On Tuesday morning we rented a car from Simplycar (https://simplycarpraia.com) with drop-off at the airport on Wednesday and Thursday midnight. Inspired by 4 wheels under our pödis we drove to Cidade Velha, the first European settlement in the tropics and thus on Cape Verde (1426). Cidade Velha was consequently also the former capital of the 10 islands.
