Am Montag durfte ich mein Apartment im Las Rochas (https://lasrochasmindelo.com) bis 14 Uhr behalten... perfekt um alles in Ruhe zu erledigen! Da ich aber eine Stunde vorher bereit für den Inselwechsel war, umrundete ich Sao Vicente nochmals bevor es zum Hafen ging. : )

On Monday I was allowed to keep my apartment at Las Rochas (https://lasrochasmindelo.com) until 2 pm.... perfect for doing everything in peace! But since I was ready to change islands an hour earlier, I circumnavigated Sao Vicente once again before heading to the port. : )

Eine halbe Stunde bevor die Fähre fuhr, erreichte ich den Hafen von Mindelo, wo jemand von New Car Top Car (https://web.facebook.com/NewCarTopCar) mein Mietauto entgegennahm. Die CV Interilhas Fähre (https://www.cvinterilhas.cv) legte um 15 Uhr ab mit Kurs auf Sant Antao... Nach einer 1 1/4 stündigen Fahrt mit hohem Wellengang erreichten wir Porto Novo auf Sant Antao. Ein Taxi brachte mich zum Hotel Santantao (https://www.facebook.com/ArtResort2007), wo ich für 2 Nächte ein Zimmer reserviert hatte.

Half an hour before the ferry left, I reached the port of Mindelo, where someone from New Car Top Car (https://web.facebook.com/NewCarTopCar) waited to get my rental car back. The CV Interilhas ferry (https://www.cvinterilhas.cv) left at 3 pm for Sant Antao... After a 1 1/4 hour trip with high waves we reached Porto Novo on Sant Antao. A taxi took me to the Hotel Santantao (https://www.facebook.com/ArtResort2007) where I had reserved a room for 2 nights.

Crazy Chicken, Porto Novo, Sant Antao, Cabo Verde

Ein Abendspaziergang und Hunger brachten mich direkt in ein Restaurant ohne Namen... oder war es Crazy Chicken? Während mein Zackenbarsch grillierte, genehmigte ich mir einen Grogue (das Nationalgetränk 40%-iger Alkohol aus Zuckerrohr) – da wird einem gleich warm ums Herz!

An evening walk and hunger brought me straight to a restaurant without name… or was it Crazy Chicken? While my grouper was on the barbeque, I treated myself to a grogue (the national drink made from sugar cane with 40% alcohol) - it warmed my heart right away!

Nach einem ausgiebigen Frühstück im Hotel Santantao war Planung angesagt: Sant Antao ist etwa 3 x so gross (20 x 40 km) wie Sao Vicente mit echtem Gebirge bis zu 2000 m... ich brauch also ein gebirgstaugliches Auto hier! Und was die Bootsverbindungen zwischen den 10 Inseln hier betrifft, hab ich es mir viel einfacher vorgestellt: Nur mittwochs geht ein Boot im Uhrzeigersinn von Sao Vicente nach Sao Nicolau, Sal, Boa Vista etc., aber alle Daten bis Anfang März sind ausgebucht! : ( Mal sehen... es gibt ja noch Flugverbindungen…

After a hearty breakfast in the Hotel Santantao, planning was the order of the day: Sant Antao is about 3 times as big (20 x 40 km) as Sao Vicente with real mountains up to 2000 m... so I need a car that is suitable for mountains! And as far as the boat connections between the 10 islands here are concerned, I imagined it to be much easier: Only on Wednesdays does a boat go clockwise from Sao Vicente to Sao Nicolau, Sal, Boa Vista etc., but all dates up to the beginning of March are fully booked! : ( Let's see... there are still flight connections...

Dann brauchte ich dringend Auslauf um meinen Kopf zu durchlüften und ging dem schwarzen Strand entlang Richtung Westen joggen. Auf dem Hinweg flog ich fast, so stark war der Wind, und auf dem Rückweg mit Gegenwind konnte ich meine Augen kaum offen halten und wurde ich sandgestrahlt! ; )

Then I urgently needed some exercise to clear my head and went for a run direction west along the black beach. I almost flew on the way out, the wind was so strong, and on the way back with a headwind I could barely keep my eyes open and got sandblasted! ; )

Ein frühes Abendessen genoss ich im sympathischen Restaurant neben dem Hotel, dem Sabores Ratatui (https://sabores-ratatui.negocio.site): einen gegrillten Fisch mit Wurzelgemüse wie Maniok, Süsskartoffel, Kartoffel, Kürbis und Karotte. : ))

I enjoyed an early dinner in the friendly restaurant next to the hotel, the Sabores Ratatui (https://sabores-ratatui.negocio.site): a grilled fish with root vegetables like cassava, sweet potato, potato, pumpkin and carrot. : ))
