Auf der
kleinen Insel Maio (17 x 25 km) herrscht grosse Ruhe... schon bei der Ankunft
lädt die versprühte Gelassenheit der Einheimischen ein, den kapverdischen
Slogen 'no stress' ernst zu nehmen - besser, sonst ärgert man sich im
Restaurant, wenn man auf den Kaffee oder das Essen sehr lange warten muss...
dafür ist alles frisch! Nur das mit den selbstgemachten Pommes klappt hier auf
dieser Insel an den wenigsten Orten - schade die Kartoffeln gefroren in Plastik
zu verwenden!
On the small island of Maio (17 x 25 km) there is big peace... upon arrival, the relaxed atmosphere of the locals invites you to take the Cape Verdean slogan 'no stress' seriously - better, otherwise you'll get angry in the restaurant if you have to wait a long time for coffee or food... but everything is fresh though! Only the thing with the homemade fries unfortunately works only in very few places here on this island - it's a shame to use frozen potatoes in plastic!

Und es
warten herrliche Strände auf, wie nur noch selten auf diesem Planeten... wild
und verlassen - einfach nur fantastisch! : ) Alles mit wenigen Touristen, was eine
italienische Grosssiedlung auf dem Strand im Ort Vila do Maio ins Gegenteil
verwandeln wollte... nur der Corona Virus (oder besser gesagt das Theater der
Menschen) brachte die riesigen Hotelkomplex zum Stillstand... : )
And there are wonderful beaches which are rare on this planet... wild and deserted - just fantastic! : ) Everything with few tourists, which a large Italian settlement on the beach of Vila do Maio wanted to turn into the opposite... only the corona virus (or rather the theatre of the people) brought the huge hotel complex to a standstill... : )

Wir
genossen unsere coole Suite im Casa Evora (https://casa-evora.com) und die Ruhe mit Spaziergängen - ich
auch mit Joggen barfuss am Strand. Wir wussten ja bereits, dass man lange
warten muss im Restaurant und hatten uns eigentlich darauf eingestellt… aber
manchmal ging es ½ Stunde und der Kaffee war immer noch nicht da… wenn ich nachfragte
ob es vergessen ging, war immer irgend ein Grund – meist mussten sie etwas kaufen
gehen, was ausgegangen war…

Dank für die Fotos! : ) Es war eine Riesenarbeit die Fotos der letzten Woche
von 3 Geräten zu ordnen… aber nun kann ich diesen Blog beenden. – Vorab: Mein
Handy wurde am 16.3. vom Meer verschlungen und alles war weg bis ich in Spanien
ein neues iPhone kaufen und alles bis auf 2 Tage wiederherstellen konnte! : )

We enjoyed our great suite at Casa Evora (https://casa-evora.com) and our
peace with walks - I also went for runs on the beach barefoot. We already knew
that we had to wait a long time in the restaurants and were actually prepared
for it... but sometimes it took ½ hour and the coffee was still not there...
when I asked if it had gone forgotten, there was always some reason why -
usually they had to go buy something that had ran out...
Brige: Thank you for the photos! : ) It was a huge job to re-establish
all of our last week's photos from 3 devices... but now I am able to finish
this blog. – Beforehand: My cell phone was swallowed up by the sea on 16.3. and
everything was gone until I was able to buy a new iPhone in Spain and restore
everything but 2 days! : )
