Sal gibt es endlos Wind und Sand… mit Sonne ist es auszuhalten – aber meist ist
es eher kühl um 20 Grad! Ich hab echt falsche Kleider mitgenommen! : ( Bei
diesem Wetter wäre Arbeiten angesagt, aber das Internet ist so schwach, dass es
echt keinen Spass macht… dann also Sport!? - Ja, der lange Sandstrand vor der
Tür ist ideal um ausgiebig barfuss joggen zu gehen.
Here on Sal there is endless wind and sand... with sun it is tolerable - but mostly it is rather cool around 20 centigrade! I brought really wrong clothes! : ( In this weather, work would be the order of the day, but the internet is so weak that it's really no fun... so sports!? - Yes, the long sandy beach in front of the door is ideal for extensive jogging barefoot.

Am Montag
mietete ich bei Electrica (https://www.electricabikes.com)
ein Fahrrad für einen Tag um die erweiterte Umgebung zu erkunden… Zuerst fuhr
ich der Westküste entlang auf verschiedenen Naturstrasse bis nach Murdeira, ein
verschlafenes Nest. Dort merkte ich, dass es keinen Sinn macht weiterzufahren
mit diesem starkem Wind und nichts in naher Aussicht… So machte ich kehrt und
nahm die 4-spurige Schnellstrasse zurück nach Santa Maria. Dort traf ich nach
total 30 km in 3 h noch vor 15 Uhr ein und gab das Velo zurück – und durfte vom
Tarif für ½ Tag profitieren! : )
On Monday I rented a bike from Electrica (https://www.electricabikes.com) for a day to explore the wider area... First I rode along the west coast on various dirt roads to Murdeira, a sleepy village. There I realized that there was no point in continuing with this strong wind and nothing in sight close by... So I turned and took the 4-lane freeway back to Santa Maria. I arrived there after a total of 30 km in 3 hours before 3 pm and returned the bike - and was able to benefit from the ½ day tariff! : )

Mir ist
vor allem der viel Müll auf Sal aufgefallen – extrem! Kaum verlässt man einen
Ort, sieht man den Abfall ausserhalb deponiert… : (( Sal ist sehr touristisch –
vor allem nach Sao Vicente & Sant Antao - und hat für mich dadurch viel vom
kapverdischen Charme verloren… Zu viele Touristen stören dieses Gleichgewicht: Wenn
man nur 1 Woche auf dieser Insel verbringt, kann man sich gar nicht richtig in
das Leben hier hineinversetzen… und mit den Normen von zuhause macht man alles
automatisch teurer… Sal ist wirklich teuer – und zwar alles! Jeder Tourist wird
ausgeschlachtet und man wird überall fast bedrängt etwas zu kaufen – und hier
wird fast alles verkauft! Als alleinreisende Frau muss man sehr ideenreich sein
um nicht ständig angequatscht zu werden, so tue ich meist als sei ich taubstumm.

I especially noticed the amount of garbage on Sal - extreme! As soon as you leave a town, you see the rubbish dumped outside... : (( Sal is very touristy - especially after Sao Vicente & Sant Antao - and for me it has lost a lot of the Cape Verdean charm... Too many tourists disturb this balance: If you’re spending just 1 week on the island you don’t really get in touch with life here... and by the norms of home, you automatically make everything more expensive... Sal is really expensive - everything! They try to get everything out of every tourist and are very aggressive selling something - and almost everything is sold here! As a woman traveling alone, you have to be very imaginative in order not to be constantly chatted up, so I usually pretend to be deaf and dumb. : ((

Dies hat
mich auch dazu veranlasst mich um meine Weiterreise zu kümmern… ich muss es
einfach immer wieder erwähnen: Reisen hier auf den Kapverden ist ein echtes
Abendteuer! Im Netz findet man unterschiedliche Informationen über die viel zu
wenigen Fähren und Flüge und ich konsultierte wieder ein Reisebüro. Bei Isi (https://isitourism-caboverde.com/st_location/cabo-verde/sal-2)
erstand ich einen der letzten Plätze diese Woche mit Bestfly nach Praia,
Santiago…

This also prompted me to take care of my onward journey... I just have
to point out again and again: Travelling here in Cape Verde is a real
adventure! On the net you can find different information about the far too few
ferries and flights and I consulted a travel agency again. At Isi (https://isitourism-caboverde.com/st_location/cabo-verde/sal-2)
I bought one of the last places this week with Bestfly to Praia, Santiago...
