Heute Morgen erwachte ich im italienischen all inklusive Hotel Voi Vila do Faro (https://www.voihotels.com/destinazioni/voi-vila-do-farol-resort) in Santa Maria, Sal... eigentlich sind all inklusive Hotels gar nicht mein Ding, aber jetzt war ich echt froh für 2 Nächte eine Bleibe und Zeit zum Organisieren zu haben! : ) Das Frühstück liess ich aus und genoss statt dessen den bis jetzt besten Espresso auf den Kapverden an der Bar, meinen Tee und Obst vom Buffet.

This morning I woke up in the Italian all inclusive hotel Voi Vila do Faro (https://www.voihotels.com/destinazioni/voi-vila-do-farol-resort) in Santa Maria, Sal... actually all inclusive hotels are not really my thing, but now I was really happy to have a place to stay for 2 nights and time to organize! : ) I skipped breakfast and instead enjoyed the best espresso on Cape Verde so far at the bar, my tea and fruit from the buffet.

Dann suchte ich zum Strand, der extrem breit ist hier, und joggte mit Gegenwind ins Zentrum von Santa Maria. Unterwegs hielt ich Ausschau nach Unterkünften in Strandnähe und mir viel auf: obschon viele Hotel, kaum hohe Gebäude! : ) Eines fiel mir speziell auf und ich erkundete mich... und so stiess ich auf Sonia & Gerrit aus Belgien und mein neues Apartment! - Und nun die Zufälle oder nicht: Ich war im Porto Antigo 2 gelandet, das Aparthotel das mir Heila auf Sant Antao empfohlen hatte… aber wegen Datenmissverständnissen konnte ich es nicht buchen! Dann fanden wir im Gespräch heraus, dass Gerrit am 5.3. 70 und ich am 3.5. 60 werde! Und ich hatte Glück, dass es just jetzt frei wurde… Sonia und Gerrit vermieten das Apartment nur an Bekannte und Leuten, denen sie in die Augen sehen können – es wartete genau auf mich! : ))

Then I searched for the beach, which is extremely wide here, and jogged against the wind to the centre of Santa Maria. On the way I looked for accommodations near the beach and I noticed: although many hotels, hardly any tall buildings! : ) One property in particular caught my eye and I went to explore it... that's how I came across Sonia and Gerrit from Belgium and my new apartment! - And now, coincidences or not: I ended up at Porto Antigo 2, the aparthotel that Heila in Sant Antao had recommended to me… but because of misunderstanding of dates I couldn’t book! Then we found out that Gerrit will be turning 70 on 5.3. and me on the 3.5. 60! And I was lucky that that the apartment became vacant just now... Sonia and Gerrit rent the apartment only to friends and people they can look in the eye – it was waiting just for me! : ))

Zurück im Hotel war inzwischen Mittagessenszeit und ich setzte mich direkt ins Strandrestaurant und bestellte mir eine Pizza - nun hatte ich Hunger und das ist einer der wenigen Vorzüge von alles inklusive: essen wenn man sich hungrig fühlt, nicht wenn es Zeit ist... Den Nachmittag genoss ich auf einem der vielen Liegestühle um den Pool an der milden Sonne. Ja, zum ersten Mal auf den Kapverden hatte ich das Gefühl von Sommer - ist der Wind schwächer auf Sal oder hab ich mich daran gewöhnt??

Back at the hotel it was lunch time by now and I straight went to the beach restaurant and ordered a pizza - now I was hungry and that's one of the few advantages of all inclusive: eating when you feel hungry, not when it's time... The afternoon I enjoyed on one of the many sun loungers around the pool in the mild sun. Yes, for the first time on the Cape Verde islands I had the feeling of summer - is the wind weaker on Sal or am I used to it??

Am Freitag wechselte ich meine Unterkunft. Klar genoss ich den frühen super Espresso an der Bar und auch mein Frühstück heute am grossen Buffet im Voi Vila do Faro.  Am Mittag ging es mit einem Taxi zum Porto Antigo 2 (https://www.facebook.com/portoantigo2) zu Sonia und Gerrits Apartment, wo ich mich erst mal für 5 Tage einrichtete - mein neues Zuhause auf Sal! : )

On Friday I changed my accommodation. Of course, I enjoyed the super early espresso at the bar and also my breakfast today at the large buffet in the Voi Vila do Faro. At noon I took a taxi to Porto Antigo 2 (https://www.facebook.com/portoantigo2) to Sonia and Gerrit's apartment, where I settled in for 5 days - my new home on Sal! : )

Santa Maria ist touristisch: Es hat sehr viele Hotel aber glücklicherweise nur wenig hohe Gebäude. Das Städtchen ist sehr lebhaft und man findet eine Vielfalt an Geschäften und Restaurants (auch kulinarisch). Zum Sonnenuntergang spazierte ich an den Strand und der Hunger führte mich direkt ins wunderschöne Restaurant Odjo d'Agua (https://odjodagua-hotel.com), wo ich bisher eines meiner besten Essen hier auf den Kapverden genoss... : )

Santa Maria is touristy: it has a lot of hotels but fortunately only a few tall buildings. The town is very lively and you can find a variety of shops and restaurants (also in culinary terms). Before sunset I walked to the beach and hunger led me straight to the beautiful restaurant Odjo d'Agua (https://odjodagua-hotel.com), where I had one of my best meals here on Cape Verde so far... : )
